Blake Stephenson, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, has met with National Highways at the site of the A421 closure in Marston Moreteyne to receive an update on the planned re-opening.
Martin Fellows, the regional director for National Highways in the East of England, told Blake he was hopeful the road could be opened in some form by the middle of next week after significant progress had been made.
Blake was able to see the progress being made after specialist high volume pumps were added to the site to help around 11 million litres of floodwater is now being removed each day.
Blake's survey on the local response to flooding remains live and he will soon be building a report based on your experiences to pass on to the relevant authorities.
