Blake Stephenson, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, voted for a national inquiry into the grooming gangs scandal in the House of Commons last night (8th January).
The amendment was put in by the Conservatives but was defeated 364 votes to 111 votes with Labour MPs voting against and Liberal Democrats abstaining.
Blake said:
This evening I voted for a full national inquiry into the sickening grooming gangs scandal.
Unfortunately Labour MPs voted to reject an inquiry. And the Liberal Democrat MPs didn't even bother to vote. So the vote was not passed.
This is incredibly disappointing and the victims of this scandal deserve better so, as Conservatives, we will continue to hold the Government to account on this.
