Blake Stephenson, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, has visited a water treatment site in Flitwick to learn more about the process of how waste water is treated before being returned to the natural environment.
They discussed the impact of new housing developments on water infrastructure across Bedfordshire and the work they are doing to prevent leaks and storm overflows.

It was concerning to hear that every 15 minutes, Anglian Water has to deal with a blockage in a pipe or sewer because of something being put down the sink or toilet.
In picture three I was shown the large amount of 'unflushables' which ended up at this particular Waste Treatment Centre. The skip gets so full it needs clearing every three to four weeks.
80% of blockages are avoidable so please don't flush wet wipes, sanitary products, cotton buds and other non-biodegradables.
