Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has called on the Labour Government to reinstate 'beauty' as a housebuilding objective in the revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
The last Government had introduced a focus on 'beauty' and 'beautiful' housebuilding in its updated NPPF in January to ensure that developments are creating communities where people want to live and bring up a family.
But after entering Government in July, Labour quickly reversed the plans. At Housing, Communities and Local Government Questions on Monday 2nd September, Blake Stephenson MP asked Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to reinstate 'beautiful' housebuilding.
The local MP also highlighted the significant amount of housebuilding Mid Bedfordshire has seen in recent years, including at Wixams, and how developments must always be backed up by local services, such as GPs.

The Deputy Prime Minister dismissed Blake's concerns describing 'beauty' as subjective.
