About Blake Stephenson

Blake is the Conservative MP for Mid Bedfordshire. He was elected at the 2024 General Election on Thursday 4th July.

He is also a Central Bedfordshire Councillor, representing the villages of Gravenhurst and Shillington in Mid Beds. Blake has also served on the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Panel and Shillington Parish Council. He is Chair of the Shillington and Stondon Federation of Schools.

Blake has lived in the countryside all his life and is passionate about supporting our rural communities and local businesses. He believes that we need to work hard as custodians of our landscapes and the natural environment, to preserve the best of our countryside for future generations and nature.

Having benefited from a great comprehensive education himself, Blake knows just how important it is to invest in education, not just for individual success, but to also improve the prosperity of our communities and country. Great education opens minds, inspires, and provides the opportunity for children to go on and do great things. As a Chair of Governors, Blake is proud to lead and support our schools as they strive to give your children the best possible start in life.

After being Called to the Bar, Blake built a successful career in the City of London over 15 years, working in ethics and compliance roles within wholesale financial markets.

Since being elected as the Member of Parliament for Mid Bedfordshire, Blake has been involved in a number of local campaigns. He is working to bring the new Universal theme park to Bedfordshire, along with the appropriate infrastructure and is continue to push for step-free access at Flitwick train station.

In September 2024, Blake was elected as a vice-chair of the East of England All-Party Parliamentary Group. Blake has also joined the APPG on Sustainable Flood Management.

In October 2024, Blake was appointed to the Environmental Audit Committee.

In November 2024, Blake was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Chancellor, Mel Stride. In this role he will be supporting Mel and the entire shadow treasury team, to hold the Chancellor and her Ministerial team to account on public spending, financial services policy, taxation, and economic growth.
