Our Plan for Mid Bedfordshire

I have lived in Mid Bedfordshire for a decade, I am a Central Bedfordshire councillor, and a school governor. Whether it's stopping speculative developments like Greenwoods near Silsoe, saving our rural bus services from budget cuts, or securing local healthcare funding, I work hard with everyone and anyone to get things done. 

I am a local resident who shares your priorities, and as your MP I am fully focused on delivering for Mid Bedfordshire. I expect to be held to account for my work. And so you can do that, I am setting up a fully staffed office in our constituency and will be very accessible.

Blake welcomes CBC appeal win against 100 High Street, Meppershall

I'm pleased that on 18 August 2023, CBC won its appeal against the proposed development of 23 dwellings at 100 High Street in Meppershall.  Local residents and the Parish Council have worked hard to resist this inappropriate development, which has resulted in a very welcome common sense outcom

  • SUPPORTING OUR FARMERS AND OUR RURAL ECONOMY

    We have a vibrant rural economy but there is so much more potential. Farmers produce great food for us all. I will back farmers to thrive, and support them to be great custodians of our countryside.

  • PROTECTING OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE

    I was brought up on a farm and I have lived in the countryside all my life. We should protect our countryside, the natural environment, and prime agricultural land.

  • PUTTING CHILDREN FIRST

    I benefited from a great state education and as a school governor I know how important this is for your children and grandchildren. We need to have enough school places in the right locations to align with housing growth.

  • A GP WHEN YOU NEED ONE

    Accessing healthcare has become increasingly difficult with a rising local population. I am working with Mayor Tom and Bedford Borough councillors to secure the new surgery in Wixams.

  • KEEPING US SAFE

    Anti-social behaviour is a scourge. As a member of the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Panel I have been pushing for more community policing for our rural areas and small towns. As your MP I will continue to do that, as well as fight for our county to have the funds it needs to keep us all safe.
