Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has written to the Chancellor ahead of next week's Budget statement urging her to focus on a number of issues including support for pensioners, investing in infrastructure and tackling flooding.
Blake has been a vocal opponent to the Labour Government's decision to cut Winter Fuel Payments for thousands of pensioners across Bedfordshire and reiterates his concern about this policy in the letter, urging the Chancellor Rachel Reeves to ensure the appropriate support is available for pensioners.
He also highlight the slow delivery of infrastructure in new developments, such as Wixams in Mid Bedfordshire, and has called on the Government to commit to delivering capital funding upfront to deliver new healthcare provision.
Other issues raised by the local MP include concerns over reports Labour will increase National Insurance on employers, pushing to continue the freeze on Fuel Duty, ensuring farmers have adequate support and doing everything possible to bring Universal Studios to Bedfordshire.
