Blake Stephenson, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, is encouraging people to sign a petition aimed at reversing the Labour Government's plans for a Family Farm Tax.
Earlier this year the Labour Party promised that they would not change Agricultural Property Relief for farmers, but in last week's Budget, they broke their promise to farmers – reducing the relief and imposing inheritance tax rates on farmland – which will devastate family farms and pose a serious risk to domestic food security and food prices.
Blake has signed the Stop Family Farm Tax petition and is calling on everybody to join him and help fight for farmers in Mid Bedfordshire and across the country.
He said: "Farmers put food on our tables, three times a day. We would not survive without them, it's as simple as that.
"I'm shocked Labour has broken its promise to our farmers and urge everybody to sign the petition and pile the pressure on this Government to u-turn."
Blake is looking to hold a roundtable with farmers from across the Mid Bedfordshire constituency this week. If you're a local farmer and would like to attend, please get in touch on [email protected]
