Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has called on the Government to provide more support to local pensioners to fill 'Labour's black hole in pensioners' household finances'.
Blake has been campaigning against the Labour Government's decision to cut Winter Fuel Payments, by supporting Age UK's petition, raising it at Prime Minister's Questions and voting against the plans in Parliament.
In a question in the House of Commons to Department for Work & Pensioners Minister Emma Reynolds on Monday (7th October), local MP Blake asked what further support the Government would provide to local pensioners after cutting Winter Fuel Payments.
Blake Stephenson MP said: "Around 93% of pensioners in Mid Bedfordshire face losing the Winter Fuel Payment this year, some earning less than £1,000 a month.
"What further support is the Minister going to give them to fill Labour's black hole in their household finances so they can keep warm this winter?"
