- In the 2023 Spring Budget, the Conservative Government confirmed £200 million for local authorities in England to repair potholes and improve roads.
- The funding allocation to Central Bedfordshire Council is £989,200.
Blake Stephenson, local election candidate for Gravenhurst, Meppershall and Shillington, welcomes the Conservative Government's near £1m investment in Central Bedfordshire's roads.
Commenting on the news, Blake said:
"Fixing potholes is a key issue and a clear priority for residents in our villages, so I welcome this additional money. It will support Central Bedfordshire Council continue to fix and improve our road network after damage caused from the coldest winter since 2010".
"It's important that adequate priority is given to our rural network, and if elected in May I'll work with colleagues to ensure our villages benefit from a fair share of this funding".
