- Thanks residents for the vote of confidence and all candidates for a positive and civil campaign
On 5th May 2023 Central Bedfordshire's Returning Officer declared that Blake Stephenson, the Conservative Party Candidate, was duly elected to represent the ward of Meppershall and Shillington on Central Bedfordshire Council.
With a 55.8% share of the vote and a swing from Independents at a difficult time for Conservatives nationally and locally, Blake said:
"I'm pleased to buck the trends and I'm honoured to be given the opportunity to serve our villages with such a significant mandate. I’d like to thank those of you who put your faith in me at the ballot box, and to reassure everyone - whether you voted for me or not - that I’ll serve our entire community the best I can, including all three of our Parishes in equal measure. It was a positive and civil campaign, and I thank all my fellow candidates for that."
