Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson is continuing his campaign to deliver the long-awaited GP surgery for Wixams by securing a meeting with a Government Minister to discuss investment.
Wixams opened back in 2009 and now has thousands of homes but still no GP surgery and now Blake has been elected to Parliament he is determined to find a way to unblock the issues and get the surgery built.
During Health Questions in the House of Commons on Tuesday (15th October), the local MP asked Minister Karin Smyth MP to meet with him to discuss whether Wixams could benefit from the Government's capital investment programme.
Blake Stephenson MP said: "Residents in new and growing towns like Wixams in Mid Bedfordshire need a GP surgery and my local councils have been told that they need to put up the capital to deliver one; causing concerns over cashflow and borrowing costs.
"Will the Minister meet with me to discuss the new capital investment programme to ensure that residents in new towns like Wixams don't have to wait for developer contributions to get the services they need?"
Minister Smyth responded: "I'm very happy to meet with him about this particular problem."
