Blake Stephenson, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, met with Marcel Coiffait, the Chief Executive of Central Bedfordshire Council, to discuss local priorities including healthcare, education and infrastructure.
The newly elected local MP is keen to engage with important local stakeholders to ensure he is delivering for local residents across the constituency.
On the topic of education, Blake is keen for the switch to a two tiered school system to go ahead as soon as possible, and the short, medium and long-term availability of school places was also discussed.
Central Bedfordshire Council is also currently consulting on a review of its Local Plan. As part of the Local Plan, Wixams would sit cross-boundary between Bedford Borough Council and Central Beds so Blake raised the importance of the authorities working together to deliver the appropriate infrastructure for the whole of Wixams.
Also on the agenda of the meeting was improving availability of GPs across the Mid Bedfordshire constituency and a focus on road safety to ensure issues are tackled before serious incidents occur.
