Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has hosted a roundtable with local farmers to discuss the potential impact of the Government's recent Budget.
The local MP convened the meeting at The Musgrave Arms in Shillington with farmers from across the Mid Bedfordshire constituency on Thursday afternoon (7th November.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced cuts to agricultural property relief (APR), National Insurance increases on employment and a tax on importing fertiliser.
Blake Stephenson MP said: "As I've said numerous times over the past week, we simply would not survive without our farmers. They put food on our tables and with global instability food security is more important now than ever before. We should not be putting family farms at risk.
"We had a really productive conversation and I'll be taking their feedback onboard to do my best to influence the Government to make better policy for our local farmers.
I have also signed the Stop The Family Farm Tax petition which will be delivered to 10 Downing Street."
